Instructor: Sarah Roberts
Learn and practice seven basic embroidery stitches. Come away with a knowledge of hand embroidery resources! Sarah will spend time talking about hand embroidery terminology, needle types, thread types, image transfer methods and give examples of where to go for patterns and materials on the web and in print. She will bring examples of her work that clearly show how stitches can be used in application. Students leave with a strong knowledge and practice of seven basic stitches.

This is an adult class, but ages 12+ welcome with an adult.

Stitches Learned:
Running, Stem, Back, Satin, Daisy (detached chain), Chain, and French Knot
Explicit instructions given for Basic Line, Detached, Fill and Knot Stitches.
Students will have the opportunity to practice the stitches, ask questions and troubleshoot when they run into problems.

All Materials Provided:
– Sampler guide for reference and note taking
-Needle
-Pre-printed pattern on fabric
-6 in. wooden embroidery hoop
-Selection of DMC stranded cotton thread

About Sarah Roberts
Sarah Roberts is a hand embroidery artist and instructor in Atlanta Georgia. She lives with her husband, two small children, and floppy eared dog in a 1939 urban cottage.

Sarah has been stitching since childhood. She began embroidering professionally in 2013 with commissioned work and then began teaching, selling at local markets, and creating patterns for others in 2014. In the past two years, Sarah has taught over 100 excited stitchers in both formal class settings and at Quiet Hours quarterly Get Stitchy! social events.
Of the many wonderful things about hand embroidery, Sarah most enjoys the quiet and mindful time spent with this humble and almost ancient craft.

Class Cancellation Policy
Sometimes our classes won’t fill their minimum and we will need to cancel. Most likely it could be the day before, and we will contact you as soon as possible. A full refund will be applied if the studio has to cancel a class.

What happens if I need to cancel?
Class fees are non-refundable. There is a 48 hour cancellation policy. If you cancel within the 48 hours before the class, you will forfeit your fee. If you alert us 48 hours or more before your scheduled class, we will be glad to give credit for a future class. This credit must be used within 60 days of the cancellation date to prevent loss of the registration fee.
