  • Intermediate Embroidery
    September 13, 2016
    7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Instructor: Sarah Roberts
In this class we will get a bit deeper into the expansive world of embroidery. We will spend time talking about different types of thread and the best ways to store and care for thread. We will also talk a little more in depth about needles and choosing the best needle for your embroidery projects. This sampler builds on basic hand embroidery stitches (such as the back & chain stitches). I will teach 7 new stitches including:

  • Blanket stitch
  • Woven back stitch
  • Wagon wheel
  • Fly
  • Seed stitch
  • Heavy chain stitch
  • Fishbone!

This class is packed with new embroidery knowledge and plenty of great stitching practice! If you feel like you’ve been stuck doing three basic stitches for years, this is the class for you!

  • Age recommendation: 12 to adult
  • Prerequisites: either the Quiet Hours Beginning Embroidery Sampler or some previous knowledge of basic embroidery stitches and materials
  • All materials included

About Sarah Roberts
Sarah Roberts is a hand embroidery artist and instructor in Atlanta Georgia. She lives with her husband, two small children, and floppy eared dog in a 1939 urban cottage.

She began embroidering professionally in 2013 with commissioned work and then began teaching, selling at local markets, and creating patterns for others in 2014. In the past two years, Sarah has taught over 100 excited stitchers in both formal class settings and at Quiet Hours quarterly Get Stitchy! social events.
Of the many wonderful things about hand embroidery, Sarah most enjoys the quiet and mindful time spent with this humble and almost ancient craft.
