Create stunning indigo blue and white patterns on fabric by exposing portions of the textile to an indigo dye bath. Fabric manipulation through folds, ties, pleats, stitches and more create a variety of beautiful results, with
origins tied back to the 1600s.

In this class we will cover:
-History of and proper names for fabric manipulation
-Experimenting with fabric folds, manipulation, and tools
-Dyeing test fabrics and a final project

Materials Fee: $10
All materials will be provided, including swatches for experimentation; however, you will be responsible for providing a larger item for the final project if you would like. Ideas include a scarf, pillowcases, bed sheet(s), blanket, clothing, etc. All items MUST be PRE-WASHED, solid white in color, and of a natural fiber such as silk, hemp, cotton, or linen.
