Light Up the Lake Lantern Parade
Friday, April 21st
The Avondale Estates community along with the DeKalb School of the Arts is invited to participate in a Lantern Parade, Light up the Lake, on Friday, April 21st!
We will celebrate community and the arts by parading through the beautiful Avondale Estates neighborhood, wind around the lake for a spectacular display and cut through the woods pathway to Avonwood where we’ll end at DSA’s campus for a celebration featuring student performances and kicking off their 30th Anniversary and Annual Fringe Festival!
GDS is thrilled to host lantern making workshops at our NEW LOCATION, 128 N. Avondale Rd.! Reserve your spot online, all workshops are FREE (donations accepted for supplies and a portion of proceeds will benefit DSA)

About the Fringe Festival at DSA
**The Lantern Parade kicks off DSA’s annual Fringe Festival on Saturday, April 22nd. Fringe Festival is about student-curated set of performances “on the fringe” and will include visual art exhibitions, vocal, dance, creative writing, media and drama performances. Students will showcase “outside the box” performances along with showcase pieces they have worked on over the course of the year. Fringe Festival is a great way to get a glimpse inside the school, meet faculty and school leaders while experiencing the creative work by these awesome kids!
The Lantern Parade will be a wonderful opportunity for AE citizens of all ages to connect with DeKalb School of the Arts, a true gem in our community. Let’s make a lantern, expand our own art experience and parade in the celebration of 30 years with DeKalb School of the Arts!
“The Lantern Parade is a beautiful illustration of how the brilliance of individuals can illuminate a community.” – Chantelle Rytter, Captain of the Krewe of the Grateful Gluttons
