Michell Grosenick

Michell is a native of Louisiana and has always been attracted to the water (the streams, the marshes, the sea, and the life within).
Her Gyotaku fish prints are hand painted originals, building on the tradition of Japanese fishermen who invented the style as a way of recording their catch. Using a real fish, she first paints it with ink and then hand rubs an impression onto paper. Layers of watercolor are then added to bring the work to life.

Her oil and watercolor paintings (atmospheric, expressive, and abstract) are full of light, emotion, and mood created by the confulence of land, water, and sky.
