Title

Instructor: Jen Singh
Date: Saturday, September 19th

Time: 2:00-5:00PM

Discover the joy of painting with freedom, intuition, and expressive energy in this immersive acrylic workshop. Guided by artist Jen Singh, you'll learn foundational acrylic painting techniques while exploring a more playful and intuitive approach to creating art.

Using a glowing forest fox as your subject, you'll move beyond strict realism and learn how to capture mood, movement, and emotion through bold color choices, layered textures, and expressive mark-making. Jen will demonstrate how to build luminous layers, create depth, and develop rich surface textures that bring your painting to life.

This is a hands-on, experimental process where traditional brushes are only the beginning. You'll paint with broad brushes, palette knives, skewers, and even your fingers as you discover new ways to apply paint and create unexpected effects. The focus is on loosening up, trusting your instincts, and embracing the creative process while maintaining a recognizable subject.

Whether you're brand new to painting or an experienced artist looking to break free from rigid techniques, this workshop offers a fresh and inspiring approach to acrylic painting.

About Jen
Painting takes me to magical places, usually conjuring a story. I love to paint the wild nature around me and get lost in the process. My paintings have abstract beginnings, sometimes with a loose charcoal drawing or translucent layers of acrylic or watercolor. I embrace playfulness and joy in my practice with the intention of creating a sense of wonder for my viewers. Jen has been teaching workshops for over 10 years and is co-owner of Garage Door Studio.
