Expressive Acrylic Painting: Forest Fox
Instructor: Jen Singh
Date: Saturday, September 19th
Time: 2:00-5:00PM
We’ll be painting an expressive, moody fox and exploring how I use color, texture and brushwork to capture an animal’s personality. You’ll get a peek into my painting process while creating your own piece to take home.
Never painted before? No problem! This class is completely beginner-friendly. I’ll walk you through the basics, and there’s no drawing required. Your fox will already be lightly traced onto a beautifully textured surface, so you can jump right into the fun part: painting.
The class is intentionally small, with only 8 spots, so I can give everyone plenty of individual attention and help along the way.
This is a hands-on, experimental process where traditional brushes are only the beginning. You'll paint with broad brushes, palette knives, skewers, and even your fingers as you discover new ways to apply paint and create unexpected effects. The focus is on loosening up, trusting your instincts, and embracing the creative process while maintaining a recognizable subject.
Whether you're brand new to painting or an experienced artist looking to break free from rigid techniques, this workshop offers a fresh and inspiring approach to acrylic painting.
This is an all levels workshop, beginning painters welcome!

About Jen
Painting takes me to magical places, usually conjuring a story. I love to paint the wild nature around me and get lost in the process. My paintings have abstract beginnings, sometimes with a loose charcoal drawing or translucent layers of acrylic or watercolor. I embrace playfulness and joy in my practice with the intention of creating a sense of wonder for my viewers. Jen has been teaching workshops for over 10 years and is co-owner of Garage Door Studio.
