Feather + Found | Mixed Media Mini Workshop 8/20

Join us for a playful and meditative mixed media workshop where we’ll create whimsical nest-inspired art using acrylic paint, collage, and natural materials gathered from the textures of the outdoors. Think like a bird for the evening as we build layered, cozy little nests from bark, string, lace, tissue paper, newspaper, twigs, fibers, and other beautifully imperfect materials from nature.

Students will create a textured 3-D assemblage featuring painted eggs nestled into their creation, resulting in a unique art piece that can hang on a wall or rest on a shelf like a tiny woodland treasure. Along the way, we’ll explore layering, composition, texture, and intuitive making in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.

No art experience is required. This mini-class is designed to feel grounding, creative, and deeply connected to nature, less about perfection and more about slowing down and creating with curiosity and care.

All materials are provided, though you’re warmly invited to bring along any meaningful ephemera you’d like to incorporate into your nest: scraps of fabric, handwritten notes, vintage paper, feathers, small natural objects, or tiny keepsakes that tell part of your story.

Complimentary wine is included, making this a perfect creative evening to share with a friend or enjoy as a little retreat for yourself.

About Jen
Painting takes me to magical places, usually conjuring a story. I love to paint the wild nature around me and get lost in the process. My paintings have abstract beginnings, sometimes with a loose charcoal drawing or translucent layers of acrylic or watercolor. I embrace playfulness and joy in my practice with the intention of creating a sense of wonder for my viewers. Jen has been teaching workshops for over 10 years and is co-owner of Garage Door Studio.
