Instructor: Jen Singh
Date: Sunday, October 18th

Time: 2:00-4:30PM

Paint a raven that practically glows from the page while exploring the magic of watercolor! In this beginner-friendly workshop, you'll learn how to create a striking, atmospheric raven using just a few carefully chosen colors. Discover how a limited palette can produce rich, luminous blacks and beautiful color harmony throughout your painting.

Jen will guide you through essential watercolor techniques including wet-on-wet washes, layering transparent color, controlling values, and creating expressive textures. You'll learn how to use contrast, edges, and subtle color shifts to bring depth and dimension to dark subjects, transforming simple washes into a dramatic and captivating bird portrait.

Along the way, you'll explore the concept of optical color mixing, allowing colors to blend visually through transparent layers rather than on the palette. Whether you're new to watercolor or looking to strengthen your painting skills, this class offers a fun and approachable way to build confidence while creating a beautiful raven painting to take home.

About Jen
Painting takes me to magical places, usually conjuring a story. I love to paint the wild nature around me and get lost in the process. My paintings have abstract beginnings, sometimes with a loose charcoal drawing or translucent layers of acrylic or watercolor. I embrace playfulness and joy in my practice with the intention of creating a sense of wonder for my viewers. Jen has been teaching workshops for over 10 years and is co-owner of Garage Door Studio.
